Taking Flight

When I was making my second rendition of Le Grand Livre des Animaux, the sea animal version, I made some sketches of seagulls. Those sketches eventually turned into my next project.

This was a piece I made to practice more surface design. All the seagulls are cut out of hand-painted paper. After glueing them on the background I then added the legs and details with pencil and ink.
